Blog Chapters 3,9,10

 Alexandra Blanco

The group to go up first was my group we presented on September 1, 2022, Thursday about chapter 3 which was on intercultural communications. Our group consisted of 12 members Amy, Andres, Brian, Christie-Anne, Daniel, Daniela B, Daniela H, Denise, Emanuel, Fred, Gabriela, and me. Here I enjoyed the communication and the effort we all made to get everything together in the shortest amount of time. I am happy with how the presentation came out and with the feedback we received. Everyone in the group did terrifically and a big shout-out to the group leader, Daniela B, who was there to help everyone when she could. I remember that even till the last moment we were trying to help each other out with our nerves and make sure everything will go on smoothly. I'm happy I got put in this group and will be working with them on other projects/presentations.

After my group went the next group to go up was group 2. They Presented on September 6, 2022, Tuesday and they were presenting chapter 9. Chapter 9 is on Communicating in groups. The next group also consisted of 12 members which are, Geolibeth, Guilherme, Jarlin, Jasen, Jena, Justin, Kenneth, Kevin C, Kevin T, Khaleel, Kristina, and Leandro. Before the group went I know they were in communication because we share a Whatsapp group chat for the class and before we made our separate group chats, each group was talking through the class main chat. They had a few more days than us, so I really wanted to see how their presentation came out.
The group started and the first thing we see is the first presentation slide. It is a very pretty slide with a light blue color and these hand icons holding different items. The first slide was very appealing to the eyes, just from this alone I was very interested in seeing what the presentation was going to be about.
The next slide was the beginning where the group started talking. This slide's title was "The nature and types of groups." The person who spoke on this slide was well-spoken and it was interesting. In his bullet point, he talked about different types of family members one can have, pluralistic, consensual, laissez-faire, and protective.
The next slide was titled, "Social and support group." The next speaker was also well-spoken but did go through the slides fast and read what was on the presentation slides. Whereas we tried not to read too much from our slides. These slides were good because he explained different social groups and different support groups, such as AA or grief counseling.
The next slide was on interest groups. where the speaker explains different types of groups, also well-spoken.
The next slide was on work groups vs. work teams. I don't know if this was from my end but it was kinda hard to hear the speaker, due to the mic. The speaker wasn't just reading off the slides and was adding a few things, which I liked.
The next slide was on work groups and team goals, where they explained a bit about what the groups should do and what the goals should be, and then the difference between virtual groups.
So the group continued to speak on Healthy groups, Team building, Pseudo-conflict, Personality related conflict, Forming, Storming, Norming, Culture, and Conflict. Overall this group had a little hiccup in the beginning but this was due to internet issues and understandable for it being a call online, but besides this, the group had strong speakers, very appealing slides, good points, and very informative. I liked it.
The next group to go up was group 3. This group presented on Septmeber 8, 2022 on a Thursday. Group 3 Presented chapter 10, group leadership and problem solving. This group consisted of 11 member Lila, Lizette, Madison, Marcia, Melody, Nadyne, Nicole, Priscilla, Theirry, Tyler, and Yeni. The last group had one less person then the others but they did have the most time to prepare, so I was ready to see what they have prepared for us.
When the group started the presentation on the title page, it was a cute purple color with clouds, which was super cute. They inrododuced the chapter and then got on with the presentation.
They started talking about what leadership is and examples of leaderships. They also talked about the task roles where it is what everyone assigned to reach there goal and to who these tasks are given to. The next was maintenance roles where they talked about supporters, interpeters, harmanizers, mediators, and tension relivers. Next was Proecural roles where they speak on gatekeepers, logistics, expediters, and records.
The next few slides were on shared leadership responsibilities, where you share ideals and stop conflict. They also talked about being prepared for meetings, the evectivness of meetings, the meeting guidelines, and the impact on satisfaction and productivity.
They continued with problem solving, identifying the problem, analyzing the problem, analyxing the steps, criteria, brainstorming, decision making, and deliverable. They talked about each subject gave the definition behind them and used examples.
the last few slides were on communicating in group solutions, written formats, oral formats, and virtual format. They talked about what each one meant and gave few examples with pictures. They then show a short video on how to collaborate with your own group.
I really liked this presentation you can tell they worked hard and had great communication because the presentation went by so smooth. The presentation was how I imagined the teacher would want it, because it was a a few words and a lot of pictures, but the majority was people not reading from the slides but are talking about it. I relly liked the presentation with all the time they had it came out amazing.
Overall all each of the groups did an amazing job on the presentations. The funny thing was that all of our chapters were about groups and communication and we all had great communication and we all got everything done. We can all see the teachers feedback and they were amazing. I feel like every group had there own hiccups, but that is the downsides of working with technology sometimes. Besides that we all did anazaing and each presentation had their own groups personality on them.
