Our Elections Matter

Having heard the presentations from each of these groups, I am grateful to each of them. I would also like to thank the teacher who gave us subjects that we found very enjoyable. I really enjoyed the presentations. As I learned a lot about topics ranging from education to healthcare, immigration to law and order, racial divide, and economy. In each of these subjects, elections play a significant role. The most effective way to learn and discover different aspects of something is through the presentation. In their presentations, the students were clear and precise in their explanations. They demonstrated excellent communication skills when expressing thoughts and opinions and demonstrate a clear understanding of how images and videos are interpreted.

During the presentations, the class was divided into three groups: group 3 presented immigration to law and order, group 2 presented the economy and racial divide, and group 1 presented education and healthcare. These three presentations were excellent. Group 3 was the first to present.  Immigration, laws, and order was the topic of this group's presentation. As a result of this presentation, I was able to understand how immigration and elections are closely related. The group had a very nice opening, they really know the subject. They made a lot of work and energy into this presentation; they had an excellent background in history. They made a very good work of describing the history of immigration laws and how they have changed over the years, they provided so many details. They made an excellent job of describing the two political sides and how things have changed. They presented the Immigration process in the United States and the difference in immigration between different other countries. They did a really great job by describing the immigration laws in the past and now, and the comparison of immigration was very well. They used different pictures in their PowerPoint, these were very helpful. The group used great examples to describe the law, like the debate between DeSantis and Christ, and Rubio and Scott. It was an excellent presentation.

The second group to present was group 2. This group gave us an excellent presentation. The economy and the racial divide were discussed. I really like the format of this presentation. They made a very good job of explaining how the economy works. The information they provided on the racial divide was amazing. This group had a good brochure that was very informative. The slides they presented were good with good graphs. In their presentation of the US economy and the stock market, they provided useful information. During the 1929-1939 recession, they played a major role in explaining the deep recession. In addition to explaining how money is created, they also explain the recession of 2008. They also give an overview of money in American politics that was good. The racial divide and national scale were well presented. They explained that voter ID laws have directly affected voter turnout in several states throughout the US, practically barring minorities from voting. They well-presented that people of color in places such as Michigan, Texas, and North Carolina were more likely to show up to polls without proper identification most due to a lack of access to the form of identification needed. There was a lot of good information presented.

The last group to present was my group, group 1. Our presentation was on healthcare and education, and we did an excellent job. How elections interact with healthcare and education. I found the presentation to be very informative, well organized, and well presented. It was an excellent job done by everyone in this group. We presented the Division between low and high-income areas and show How these different incomes impact the future of the people who live in the areas. Also, present How voting affects our day-to-day life and why every vote counts. In this presentation, we have seen How voting affects healthcare & Education and What can be done to ensure better education and healthcare. Explaining the importance of voting was a really great job because we were at the beginning of the midterm election of November 2022. The group explains the different types of healthcare that we have from the Beveridge model to of pocket model. Some team members also meet some representatives of healthcare and ask different kinds of questions such as Do you believe that healthcare is influenced by the elections? Do you believe that healthcare is influenced by the elections? Did you notice a change in the healthcare system before and after the elections? And I was perfectly happy with the answers. Furthermore, the group discussed the differences in education between public, charter, and private schools. The group also explained the Division Between Low- & High-Income Areas in Education & Healthcare. They explain that High Income Graduation Rates: Parents can provide their children with the tools they need to prepare for college. Such tools include paying for college applications and others. Also, show that Lower Income Graduation Rates: Lower-income family students may not have the advantage of having their families as involved in schoolwork as higher-income families. The group explains the impacts of voting and political decisions touch nearly every facet of daily life, from safety to housing, to education, and even our health. In addition, they give some examples to illustrate why every vote counts. President Trump won the 2016 presidential election by only 77,744 votes out of 136 million votes cast. In the 2000 presidential race between George W. Bush and Al Gore, Bush carried Florida by 537 votes out of 6 million casts in the state, giving him an Electoral College victory. The group was making a great job. Everything was perfectly organized. The group made an excellent point that explains why we should participate in a local election. They said that, while 55–60% of eligible voters head to the polls for national elections, only about 20% of them participate in their local and state elections.  Votes on governors, mayors, and more play a significant role in deciding who controls many decisions on local healthcare proposals and budgets. As a result of watching that presentation, I have a much better understanding of why elections matter and why every vote matters. The presentation delivered by this group was very impressive.

In sum, I enjoyed all the presentations. There is a lot of knowledge about the topic presented by the presenter. An excellent presentation was made, and everything was well organized. Once again, I would like to thank the professor for providing us with these different election-related subjects. The student performed excellently, and everything went smoothly.
