The Review Part 2 by Daniela Benitez:
In our new presentations, all three groups have conducted extensive research on voting and how it affects us. Many people may not have enough knowledge when it comes to voting. It is very important when voting to be informed of our candidates' dreams and what they wish to accomplish along with realizing the truth behind their words. In this day and age of ads and commercials, propaganda is bigger now than ever. Not only are we being mailed and emailed things about our candidates but it eams we cannot go a day without a campaign or smear campaign against other politicians. With all these opinions being thrown at us, we. may be swayed by one video. But with these presentations, all three groups made it clear what can deter us from voting and why it is so important to vote and encourage your family to also vote. 1 person may not sway the vote, but 50 people can surely do that.
Group One
This is the group that I am part of, we presented last. Which was discussed by my group or something that everybody in our class can relate to. Unlike other topics that were chosen that some people may not fit in the categories, education, healthcare, or something that affects us all. This is a college course after all so everyone knows that the government has everything to do with education, especially since we all attend Miami-Dade college. There's information on the slides that included how much Miami Dade was funded by the state. Meaning a governor was chosen that chose to lower taxes for schools which could majorly affect us. Healthcare has never been easy and it's assessable as every candidate would love and has said they would want to make. Healthcare can be a huge topic when it comes to voting for a certain candidate. Whether they work for big Pharma or they are for accessible healthcare this does affect us.
There are many healthcare policies that can be directly shut down if a candidate from big Pharma is elected. Prices for necessary medication would go up and would become very difficult to come by. In this presentation, we also talked about how publicly funded schools sometimes suffer when there's a lack of materials. In impoverished neighborhoods, it is important to have activities for children in order to sway them away from any negativity that may be around our neighborhood. Sadly if candidates are not for funding schools even further these programs would shut down and impoverished children can be swayed to not continue their education. It is highly important to vote and even those who may not be able to vote have options. The group member highlighted that there are rallies and many organizations that have made large impacts and waves even though none of those people are able to vote they are able to spread knowledge and make sure that everyone is an informed voter. Group one also included many videos and charts and graphs and images that can highlight their topics on how important health and education are especially with public healthcare and education when it comes to voting for the correct candidate.
Group Two
Group 2 is the second to present and they have the topic of racial divide and economy. When it comes to voting the economy is something many red states look forward to because they want taxes to go down. But it's not that simple. Group 3 included many charts graphs and images along with organizations to ensure that our class listeners or well-informed.
We are also informed about the racial divide when it came to voting and how certain states and counties have made it very difficult for people of color to vote in order to ensure that the person they're voting for gets their place in government. Group 2 also included that places with higher local wages and appointments are associated with lower turnout in each type of election. This means people with a higher wage choose to not vote and people who are unemployed have a higher voter turnout because of the changes that could grandly affect them.
This really highlighted how higher bracket citizens truly believe that no matter the turnout of what candidate gets elected they feel nothing can affect them no matter which way it goes. Group 2 also included many political cartoons in order to give viewers a better understanding in a satirical way. Although in the United States it seems that everyone has the right to vote certain places do make it nearly impossible for anyone who isn't white and rich to vote.
Group Three
Group 3 was the first to present, their topics included immigration and law order. Group 3 jumped right in with anti-immigration laws and their history of them. As most of us come from a school that is predominantly not originally from America, and most of us come from immigrant families it is important to know America's history with immigration laws. The group also included how someone may be eligible and can go through becoming a citizen.
They included images to easily show viewers how naturalization has around 10 steps and compared it to Canada which has seven steps. Although the naturalization process is linking the United States it is important to become a citizen if possible so that we can practice our right to vote and ensure better immigration laws. They also included immigration laws and policies of other countries to show that other countries also have immigrants and that they may have some laws and procedures in place that we can use. I also included information that they're 13,000,000 immigrants after and before World War II which led to stricter immigration legislation.
There have been many immigration and nationality acts in order to ensure the unification of families which has become a priority for the United States. But in the late 20th century they also included information on how America focuses on the consequences of illegal immigration. Due to the 9/11 attacks, the United States sensed a weakness in its immigration system and has now included even stronger policies on visas in order to ensure safety. Group 3 did not include many charts but they included many laws and acts that America has stood on and as time progressed their ideas on immigration also progressed. And now has more of us have the opportunity to vote we can also change the course of immigration and allow for better policies to be put in place.

I loved this. Great writing!!
